A little bit of history.

First of all I must point out that we are not a drag hounds pack, the bloodhounds hunt the natural scent of man.

The East Anglian Bloodhounds were formed in 1992 to hunt the clean boot in the beautiful countryside of East Anglia.

The pack was formed with hounds drafted from other bloodhound packs in the country, but now all the hounds are home bred. at present there are 14 couple of hounds and 3 couple of puppies in kennels.

These hounds hunt the clean boot, that is entirely on the natural scent of man, no artificial aroma, nor any other substance is used. The lines are set over all types of country which includes heavy plough, cultivated fields, meadowland, sugar beet, set aside and tracks, through woods, water, in fact wherever our quarry can and will run.

This is not a substitute for hunting the fox or hare, but we can provide a days sport in parts of the country where hunting a wild quarry would not be possible or even dangerous due to main roads, housing,  golf courses etc.

We run up to 4 lines in a days hunting, each of 3-6 miles in length. Farmers and landowners are very hospitable and welcome us on to their property.

Our field master makes sure the field of mounted riders follow over a good line of country as well as being able to see the hounds work, but not so close that they over ride the hounds or hinder the line, and do not damage crops etc.

Our season starts in September with training days, when a gentle hack and a short line is run, then in October we meet on Sundays with 2-3 runs to get the hounds and horses fit and ready for the opening meet on the first Sunday in November. The season finishes on the last Sunday in March.
